Help with Hospital Travel Costs

Letting our members know of three schemes available to help people travelling to medical appointments.

  • Non -Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT)

A fully accessible free service transporting people to and from medical appointments. To make a booking call 0300 123 2303, lines open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm. Guarantee of transport depends on eligibility, but you will be offered alternative contact numbers for organisations should you fall outside the criteria.

  • Refund of Hospital Travel Costs

A low-income scheme helping people pay for health costs. If you are on a low income and need to travel to a NHS treatment under the care of a consultant, you can claim help with the cost of your travel. To apply you must fill out a HC1W form which you can request from the Dial-a-Ride office.

  • Hay Dial-a-Ride’s Hardship Scheme

We run our own small scheme to provide financial support to members who may be struggling to fund fares or membership. This will generally be on a temporary basis and enable people to get to appointments they would otherwise not be able to attend. The service is strictly confidential and discretion is assured. The scheme is run by trustee Liz Hughes to ensure it is applied fairly.
