Types of Journey

You can book transport for ANY need – to the GP surgery, hospital appointments, library, visiting friends or hospital visiting. Shopping trips are a regular feature and we also provide transport for a number of local not-for-profit groups in the area. Apart from these daily journeys, Dial-a-Ride also has a very popular calendar of social trips throughout the year and has visited places such as Abergavenny, Hergest Croft Gardens, Hampton Court and Mumbles.

Brecon Bank bus

Our monthly bank bus to Brecon take place on the first Friday of the month and costs £7.00. One of the first in Wales, we are very proud to be able to offer this to members in a town with no banks. The service offers members the chance to visit the banks, access facilities and meet friends.

Prescription delivery service

We also provide a prescription delivery service from Haygarth Surgeries, and Weobley and Staunton Surgeries, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Charges start from £2 within Hay-on-Wye.

Types of transport

We run two types of transport services:

  • One is the typical Dial-a-Ride minibus service where we have two wheelchair accessible vehicles – fares start at £2 for a one way journey within Hay.

  • The second is the Community Car Service where volunteers use their own vehicles, usually to go further afield, for example, Hereford Hospital. Fares are 45p for all mileage incurred.
