Senedd Member visits Hay-on-Wye’s Dial-a-Ride Service

Chair of Hay Dial-A-Ride, Mary Fellowes, with volunteer, Ed Jonas, and Senedd member, James Evans.

On the 3rd February, Hay’s Dial-a-Ride welcomed Welsh Senedd member James Evans.

During his visit, James took a trip on the minibus to experience how the service operates. Meeting members and drivers alike, it was an opportunity to see first-hand just how important this facility is as a means of transport for those in the community.

James also spent some time in the Dial-a-Ride office, learning how the service is run behind the scenes. Amongst other things, James was interested to hear about the charity’s hardship policy, which offers financial support for those who may be unable to afford journey fares to ensure they can still benefit from the service and get to where they need to be.

On his time at Dial-a-Ride James said: ‘I was delighted to accompany Ed Jonas, volunteer driver, today in Hay on the Dial-a-Ride bus. This service offers a lifeline for many residents, enabling them to get out and about – for social, shopping, doctor’s appointments and so much more. Services like Dial-a-Ride play an essential role in combating social isolation and loneliness, for all age groups. Keep up the good work!’
